Technical requirements and server specifications for Ad Server Solutions software solutions. Ad Server Solutions provides software solutions that provide ideal compatibility with any operating system platform. To use it, your server should satisfy certain software requirements:

Operating System Platform:

Ad Server Solutions software can connect to these SQL databases. In the database of your choice you will want to create a database to use with AdServer Solutions, and a user to interact with the database. The user will need to be granted create, modify, delete, and drop privileges. After this is done you will want to configure your servlet engine to connect to the database you have chosen.

Oracle

You will want to add the path to your Oracle JDBC driver to your servlet engines classpath setting. You will want to make sure your Oracle JDBC driver is compliant for the version of the JDK that you are using. More information on this can be found at: http://www.oracle.com 

MySQL

To configure Ad Server Solutions with MySQL 4.0 or higher you will need to add the path to the MySQL driver to your servlet engines classpath. If you receive a error while connecting to your MySQL database, you will want to upgrade to a newer version of the driver that can be obtained here: http://www.worldserver.com/mm.mysql 

SQL Server

To connect Ad Server Solutions with a SQL Database you will need to install a JDBC driver on your system. These are third party drivers as there are no reliable methods of JDBC connectivity that come with Windows. The procedure for installing these drivers varies, but for the most part consists of adding the driver to the servlet engines classpath. Recommended JDBC drivers for Windows are:

• JDK 1.5 and higher
  Ad Server Solutions Java versions are java servlet and as such require Java to run. To run the software the JDK 1.5 or higher must be installed on the server to run. You can obtain The JDK from the following locations

• Servlet Engine

  By default, when installing Ad Server Solutions software it will be configured to use the default servlet engine that comes bundled with the JDK. Recommended components are Tomcat 5.5.9, JServ, JRun, Servlet Exec, etc.

  The following components are requirements for a fully functioning Ad Server Solutions software Java installation.

  1. Java enabled Operating system
  2. JDK or JSDK 1.5 or higher
  3. SQL database
  4. Java servlet engine (Tomcat 5.5.9)

Also, you should take into consideration these general requirements and suggestions:

• The system should allow remote access to this account via Telnet or SSH from any host for Linux, UNIX and other NIX operating systems. PC Anywhere, VNC or any other remote server control software for Windows operating systems.

  
  Windows - To install our software on the Windows platform you must have the ability to launch the executable setup program. This usually requires either access to the server or remote access software to be installed such as PCAnywhere or VNC.

  Unix/Linux - To install our software on the Unix platform you must have either telnet or ssh access to the server, and sufficient user privileges to execute the installation script and to copy files into the website directories.
  

• The system should not limit execution time of programs running
• The system should allow server usage of network ports
• The system should allow allocating at least 128 Mb of memory
• The system should not prohibit from running server programs

We recommend the following combination of software programs:

• Linux RedHat 7.2 and higher: the most reliable and easy to use
• MySQL 4.0  better performance results than any other database.
• Apache 1.3.33 is stable, moderate in resource consumption and has top notch performance
• JDK 1.5 provides the best performance results.
